Brutal Hope
I highly recommend the MP3 from yesterday's service as Warehouse 242. Nan Marcey interviews Rick Baxley who talks openly and eloquently about what hope looks like for him on a day-to-day, as a gay man living with HIV. Bruce Marcey follows up with a short message entitled "Brutal Hope"—featuring some of his reflections on the Disturbing Voices conference. The "Take It Further" notes, written by Jonathan Carmichael, are really worth reading, as well.
Having recently completed a whole series on Sex—and on just this side of World AIDS Day—it was powerful to hear from Rick. I hope you will listen to this conversation with him and share it with others who need to know that God's grace is for us and not against us. That there can be healing and acceptance and love in the body of Christ.
