Anthony and I had a great weekend in Washington, D.C.—hanging out with Emergent folks on Saturday, visiting Cedar Ridge Community Church on Sunday morning, and then attending the "Worship in the Spirit of Justice" event at Freedom Plaza in downtown D.C. Sunday afternoon. Ant and I got to speak with Brian McLaren (we actually gave him a ride from CRCC to D.C.) and Jim Wallis from Sojourners, author of God's Politics. Jim shared a couple of really touching stories with me about Billy Graham—one from when he first met Billy (Jim was in his 30s at the time) and one from when Billy spoke at Harvard in the 1990s. We also got to hang out with blogger Jen Lemen at the Worship4Justice event as well, which was cool. Huge props to DJ Chuang for his hospitality all weekend long! We love you, man.

Hey, I'm so glad you guys got to spend some time with Brian! That's great! Was the event very well attended?

We were told that the first Worship4Justice gathering drew about 250 people, and that last week's event (on Father's Day) drew around 400. The Sunday we were there saw about 250 people, maybe more, gathered in Freedom Plaza to worship and raise awareness about the genocide in Darfur, Sudan.
