Tough Questions in the Terri Schiavo Case

I've butted heads (a little bit) with Rick Bennett in the past, but I still like the guy — and he's asking some great questions of Christian conservatives about the Terri Schiavo case (which is happening right in his backyard in Florida). I'm glad somebody is finally asking these questions, because the religious fervor around this case has my head spinning (heightened by an e-mail this morning from "Focus on the Family Action" titled "Terri Schiavo Needs Your Help - Today!"). If only a fraction of that energy was redirected toward stopping the genocide of hundreds of thousands of people in Sudan ... (sigh)

UPDATE 3/18: I'll be straight-up with ya'll: I'm hoping that some diehard (pardon the term) Terri Schiavo supporters are driven to this post via TrackBack — from sites like BlogsForTerri (from posts like this, this, and this) — and take a moment to consider the plight of the people of Sudan. I'm also commenting on the numerous posts at the WorldMag blog to raise awareness, as well. Schiavo's life is precious in God's eyes, but so are the thousands in Sudan. Think about it.

So... we should invade Sudan now?

The religious ferver over Terri Schiavo is directed toward getting people to fulfil their duty as citizens in a democracy. Religious ferver over the Darfur crisis should be directed how?
