The Democrats Have No Soul

I may have called Bill Clinton "The Anti-Christ" recently, but a new interview with him shows that he actually is one of the few people (post-election) who gets it:

"If we let people believe that our party doesn't believe in faith and family, doesn't believe in work and freedom, that's our fault ...

"[Democrats] need a clear national message and they have to do this without one big advantage the Republicans have, which is they won't have a theological message that basically paints the other guy as evil." Link

I think the Democrats need to start working now to move to the center and embrace the faithful (e.g. observant Christians, Jews, etc.). In so doing, by 2008 the Democrats could woo over those of us (myself included) who are on board with their economic policies (for the most part) but not with the social agenda. To accomplish that, I nominate Tony Campolo (one of Clinton's spiritual advisors) to lead the charge! ... Can I even do that? Oh well, who cares! Campolo is the man for the job. 'Nuff said.

So I'm not good enough to lead the charge?

I don't think the Dems should find a theological message that paints the Repubs as evil.

I doubt that more liberal economic policies could persuade that many current Republican supporters to switch over.

Dems need to accept that we need to agree on how we will agree to changes in when legal personhood begins and shuttle off of the political circuit issues like homosexual marriage that are associated with who is ultimately right in the cultural wars.
