Emergent Malaysia

Is the “emerging church” just a Western/American thing? I think not. In fact, the Church is always “emerging” everywhere around the world. Brian McLaren has been writing some fascinating stuff about the “post-colonial” church in Africa. Another part of the world that I have a great love for is southeast Asia, and I’m excited to pass on the news that there is a growing movement in Malaysia. My heart and my prayers are with my brothers and my sisters in that part of the world.

In 1996, my wife and I were blessed to have been involved with the birthing of Awakening Productions and Sonic Edge in Singapore. We lived there for three months and fell in love with the place and the people. We hope to go back again someday. Until then, we’ll be praying for God’s hand to continue to move among His people there, and elsewhere around the world.

Well, Steve .. I think seeing the "Church as always emerging everywhere around the world" levels our eyes so we can look into the mini-worlds we live and and listen to the stories we have and hope to construct together. Thanks for all the encouragement ...
